Traffic/Project Manager for Textbooks
3 + month contract
Remote-MUST WORK CST HOURS

Our client, located in the suburbs of Chicago is looking for a project manager/traffic manager with a publishing/textbook background.  This role will oversee multiple proofreading, indexing, and composition projects (books are 500-1000 pages in length) at a time and ensure that projects remain on track, schedules are communicated to all stakeholders, and quality standards are met.  This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to take on a part-time role.  The client expects the work to be 30-40 hours a week!

Hours:  Ideally working every day as client does not allow emails to go unanswered for more than 24 hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management of proofreading, indexing, or composition projects to ensure that projects remain on schedule, meet client’s quality standards
  • Communication with overseas and domestic vendors, as well as internal stakeholders and freelance professionals
  • Daily updating of excel reports to track projects
  • Ensuring projects stay on schedule and hit all major milestones
  • Problem-solving as needed if a project goes off track, proposing solutions to get the project back on track and execution
  • Transferring files to and from an sftp site
  • Trafficking of files and saving files to internal servers
  • Billing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
  • Minimum 3 years in a Project Management role, particularly, project management of textbooks or publications
  • Ability to work 30-40 hours a week
  • Experience working and using EXCEL as a tracking system
  • PowerPoint experience is a plus
  • Strong communication skills with ability to juggle multiple projects
